Exam Description

Applications are invited from eligible candidates of Karnataka including the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri Migrants for registration to the "Common Entrance Test-2017" to Professional Courses detailed herein for the seats to be notified by the Government in the Professional Educational Institutions in the state of Karnataka for the academic year 2017-18.

ELIGIBILTY CRITERIA FOR CET 2017:

For Admission to 1st Year Eligibility Criteria for Determination of Merit / Rank
In Qualifying Examination, candidate should have In CET-Examination
Engineering / Technology (B.E./B.Tech) Passed in 2nd PUC / 12thStd / Equivalent Exam with English as one of the Languages and obtained a Minimum of 45% of Marks in aggregate in Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer. (40% for SC, ST, Cat-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B category candidates) No Minimum Marks prescribed in CET. By taking marks in equal proportions in QE and CET in PCM subjects.

NOTE:

A candidate who had obtained a seat in any discipline through KEA (CET Cell) in any of the previous years and not surrendered the seat before the last date fixed for entry of options for final round of seat allotment for the respective disciplines will not be eligible for allotment of a seat to the same discipline during 2017. However, he / she is eligible to appear for CET-2017 for allotment of seat in any other discipline as per rule 15 (5) of Karnataka Selection ofCandidates for Admission to Government seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006.

HOW TO APPLY KCET-2017

Step 1: Enter all the details through ONLINE by browsing URL on website http://kea.kar.nic.in by selecting "CET-2017 UG Online Application". After completion of entry of all the details, candidates will receive an application ID and password on their registered mobile phone number and to email address and also the same information will be displayed on the screen.
Step 2: Upload the scanned copy of recent passport size Color photograph, Signature and Left Hand Thumb Impression in JPG/JPEG format separately.
Step 3: Print the Challan copy which is in triplicate. In the Challan, the details of the candidate will be pre-printed, such as Name, CET Number College / Course Allotted details, Fee to be paid, Bank Account Number. Candidates of Karnataka origin have to pay an amount of Rs. 650/- for General and OBC (Rs. 500/- for SC/ST Category-1 of Karnataka candidates only). Rs. 750/- in case of candidates residing outside the state of Karnataka and Rs. 5,000/- in case of candidates residing outside India. The candidates have to pay the requisite fee at e-Post Office/in any of the branch of the Banks specified. The bank/ e-post office will retain bank/post office copy of the Challan with them and handover the remaining two copies of the Challan to the candidates. The candidates who are residing outside India shall pay the fees in the form of Demand Draft drawn in favour of Executive Director, Karnataka Examinations Authority, payable at Bangalore, the demand draft should be sent to KEA address by mentioning the application number.
Step 4: Take a printout of the application form on A-4 Size paper. Obtain Principal seal and signature from the college where you have studied 2nd PUC or 12th standard on the space provided in the printed form. The same copy should be produced during document verification.

Note:

  • Candidates should note down their application ID and Password until the completion of filling up of the online application. Candidate has to enter all the required details in the form, failing which their application will not be considered. Candidates are not allowed to edit their application after selecting declaration/taking the final printout.
  • The candidate who fails to upload the Photo/signature/LTM OR who fails to pay the fees within the prescribed date and time, such candidate's application form will not be considered as valid and they will not be eligible for further process.

FEATURES OF KCET 2017 EXAM:

KCET 2017 exam pattern has following features:

  • The test would be conducted in pen and paper based mode.
  • The type of questions would be objective type only.
  • Candidates need to use only blue/black ball point pen in order to mark answers.
  • There will be no provision of negative marking in the exam.
